Once explored by Ponce de Leon and pirates, the treasure of Captiva Island now is miles of beaches and a laid back island lifestyle. Teddy Roosevelt and Charles Lindberg once escaped to Captiva. Now it is a hideout for rock stars and celebrities.

Five miles long and a chip shot wide, Captiva enjoys a subtropical climate on Florida's southwest coast. Accessible by crossing Blind Pass from better known Sanibel Island to the south. Captiva's quaint village reminds you of Key west 50 years ago. Ten restaurants for variety, half with Al Fresco dining and live music. Shops, artist gallery, yoga, and spas add a relaxing touch.

The Property was Better than Expected.

We rented this property to relax and enjoy some uninterrupted quality time with our children and grandchildren. Happily our goal was achieved thanks to the ambience of this wonderful beachfront villa.

Upon entering the unit for the first time we were pleased to discover it to be clean, well equipped, and welcoming. Walking straight through the apartment led us to the balcony which provided a panoramic view of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. The furnished appliances, cookware, utensils, dishes etc. were top quality and appeared to be new. The beach chairs, beach umbrellas and beach towels were also first class. The walk to the beach is easy and brief.

I should mention that access to the unit requires climbing up two flights of stairs. This, however, proved to be a minor inconvenience in exchange for being located on the top floor of the building, the tremendous view, and the additional room provided by having a loft which provided the space needed to accommodate the eight of us. There is also storage available on the ground floor for the beach equipment so carrying this equipment up the stairs every day is not necessary. We used the trunk of our car for this.

FYI The gas grill is located across the street in the pool area and the laundry is on the first floor and the machines are coin operated.

The time we spent on Captiva Island will be a wonderful memory for our family and the homey atmosphere of this property is a major reason why.

Wonderful condo, offers continuous breeze in the palms, many osprey, pelicans, and access to a long stretch of quiet sandy beach. The amenities are perfect. An easy walk to Doc Fords and to the Sunshine Seafood Cafe. Thank you! We will be back!.

What an awesome place! The Master bed was incredibly comfortable and relaxing after enjoying each and every day of this trip. The Villa has everything you need as far as utensils, towels, appliances and room. We had 7 people (5 adults and 2 teenagers) and there was adequate space and bedding for everyone. A little crowded at times, but we get along! Love the loft, and the pull out couch option in the living room is really nice. Had a problem with the garbage disposal and Royal Shell promptly took care of it. Beautiful place, wonderful view from the Villa, and a GREAT vacation!
